Turn a new pair of pointe shoes into a chance to learn, connect, and build confidence. Our group sewing classes help dancers learn to sew their own ribbons and elastic in a friendly, encouraging setting.

Whether you’re preparing your first pair or looking for a little guidance, bring your shoes and your questions. We’ll work through the process together, one stitch at a time.

A Skill That Grows with Your Dancer

Learning to sew pointe shoes is an important step toward independence. It gives dancers a better understanding of their shoes and the confidence to take part in their own preparation.

Our classes make room for practice, questions, and learning alongside other dancers. No sewing experience is necessary - just patience and a willingness to try!

What We’ll Practice

• Identifying the materials needed to prepare pointe shoes

• Measuring and marking ribbon and elastic placement with guidance

• Threading a needle and securing thread

• Stitching ribbons and elastic onto the shoe

• Finishing stitches and checking that attachments are secure

• Recognizing loose stitching that needs attention

We’ll help dancers understand the process so they can continue practicing at home. Everyone learns at a different pace, and completing both shoes may require additional practice after class.

What to Bring

Any placement instructions or preferences from your teacher.

Check your class listing for sewing-supply requirements and details about materials provided or available to purchase. Shoes should already be properly fitted and approved by your instructor.

We will not be sewing your personal shoes, practice shoes and materials will be provided so your shoes are not damaged by any practicing. *If you are wanting to sew your current shoes, we do have private lessons available.

Sewing is more enjoyable with company! Our group classes give dancers a chance to share questions, encourage one another, and celebrate the satisfaction of preparing their own shoes.
